Ziggy McNeill is a 25-yr-old guitarist from Sydney Australia that plays acoustic fingerstyle guitar to the likes of Tommy Emmanuel and Rodrigo y Gabriela. Whereever he goes, Ziggy leaves an impression. He has recently been endorsed by Cole Clark and Llyod Spiegel was very impressed with Ziggy’s solo guitar playing. Even guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel gave Ziggy a wrap at Tommy Emmanuel Guitar Camp 2014 Sydney after playing his original Beez Neez to Emmanuel (watch it on Ziggy’s YouTube).
Ziggy took up the guitar at age 12, and was inspired to chase a musical career at age 20 after meeting Tommy Emmanuel. After 6 years of playing in a Sydney band C.O.F.F.I.N, Ziggy took up the acoustic guitar and started playing fingerstyle guitar.
Ziggy is a regular busker in the streets of Manly and has played at festivals such as Manly Jazz 2015 and Manly Food & Wine Festival 2016. He has been busking at festivals such as Goulburn’s Australian Blues Festival 2016, where he was interviewed by Goulburn Post for his fingerpicking, and Tamworth Country Music Festival 2016 where was interviewed for his awesome guitar work amongst hundreds of buskers.
In 2015, Ziggy released his first solo EP It’s About Time, and has won a number of Sydney talent competitions such as The Hills Got Talent 2015, Busking by the Beach 2015 and Busking by the Burbs 2016, winning cash, gear and studio sessions. Using the money earnt from these competitions, Ziggy made his new and upcoming album Timeless, which features Australian singer Ella Freestone and Ziggy’s popular songs Opa, Rusty and Angel With A Blue Tongue. The new album was released online in September, 2016.
