• About Surfana: Surfana is a surf and goodlife collective founded in the summer of 2007. It started as a surfschool in Zandvoort but soon a second surfschool in Vlieland, a camp in Bloemendaal and an intimate surftrip company joined the collective. It is our philosophy to live happily, to enjoy life to the utmost – and to share our lifestyle with others. Our success is simply based on a combination of surf and sport activities on the one hand, and a healthy lifestyle around nature on the other. Located near the beach and the beautiful dunes of the National Park Zuid-Kennemerland, here people will be able to enjoy a simple lifestyle among other people who share that same vibe! In 2013 we decided to create an event that reflects the whole Surfana ideology. Surfana Festival was born. Here we’ve brought together al our love and passion into a one-weekend experience of pure goodlife. It is a festival to celebrate our lifestyle but also to inspire more people to choose a life based on happiness.

• The Surfana Festival Experience: Staying for the full weekend and camping at our beautiful site is the best way to experience Surfana Festival. A weekend ticket includes access to a camping spot to pitch up your tent at the unique campsite De Lakens, nestled within the Dutch National Park Kennemarduinen. Throughout the weekend, you can enjoy a diverse range of music across four stages, delicious food, and over 45 engaging and insightful workshops. Surfana Festival is not just a cultural event; it's an opportunity to immerse yourself in nature and discover new experiences. You can expect an intimate atmosphere that warmly welcomes everyone

• Where and When? Surfana Festival 2024 takes place from at the 6-7-8 of September at the campsite De Lakens, Zeeweg 60, 2051 EC, overveen. The Festival is open on Friday 12:00-24:00, Saturday 10:00-24:00 and Sunday 10:00 - 23:00

• Can I bring my Kids? Sure! You can bring your little ones up to 6 years old for free. Kids up to 17 years old that stay the weekend need a kids weekend ticket.

• Can I bring my dogs or any other pets? No, the camping has a strict policy which doesn’t allow dogs or other pets.

Weekend Tickets

• Weekend ticket tiers: Dawn Patrol, Low Tide, High Tide, Sunset SessionWeekend tickets give a person access to all days and nights of the festival + access to the campsite. This ticket includes a spot to pitch your tent (with a maximum of 3,5m2 per person). Your Weekend Ticket price includes compulsory Tourist Tax Levied per night. There are limited tickets available per tier, sold on a first-come-first-served basis. We don't accept more than one tent per weekend ticket. Meaning that you can't bring two tents for yourself. We encourage safe & consensual sharing.

• Campervan Tickets: A campervan ticket is only valid for the vehicle, not for any persons. A campervan Ticket does not give a person festival access - you will need to buy a festival ticket for each person in your van in addition to your van ticket.  A campervan is described as a self-driving vehicle that includes at least 1 bed, this excludes: any vehicle that needs to be towed by another vehicle, all caravans, all standard vehicles with no camping modifications.A pop-up roof tent is acceptable, but this must be attached to the vehicle. Your campervan ticket does not include access to power or water. Campervans may house a maximum of 6 persons, and all individuals are required to have a full weekend ticket.

• Day Tickets at Surfana Festival: There are day tickets for Surfana Festival available. Each day ticket is only valid for the day purchased. It is not possible to swap the days your tickets are valid for.

• Day Ticket Entry times: You can pick up your wristband at the De Lakens Reception on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 - 21:00 on the day your ticket is valid for.

• Multi-Day tickets: A multi day ticket grants access to the festival ground on all 3 festival days. You cannot camp with this ticket, meaning you cannot stay overnight at the campsite with your tent. You may not purchase a campervan ticket or glamping option on the campground in combination with this ticket. If you want to stay overnight you need a full weekend ticket. This used to be called a Passe-partout.

• Where are the Passe Partout tickets?  These are now called Multi-Day Tickets

• Kids Tickets: Kids up until the age of 5 years old can join for free! Kids between the age 6-17 years old require a ticket and must be accompanied by parents. There are two different ticket types for kids: a full weekend ticket or daytickets. Everyone from the age of 18 needs a regular festival ticket. If you are 100 Y.O or more, your ticket is on us.

• Do I need to print my tickets? Let's save some trees! You don't need to print your tickets. Please ensure you have downloaded your ticket to run your mobile phone before arriving.

• Does my ticket include parking? No. There is no parking at Surfana Festival, please use public transport or arrange a kiss-and-ride drop off.

• Help! My Surfana Festival tickets are lost! Don’t worry about a thing, every little thing is gonna be alright. Just enter the email address you used to purchase the tickets here. Or search your mailbox for “Surfana Festival - Tickets”. There they are!

• When do I receive my tickets? Tickets are not available for immediate download but will be available for download shortly before the event to prevent fraud and unfair reselling. When they become available you will find the ticket on your order status page. You reach the order status page by clicking the 'Download tickets' button in your confirmation email.

• Can I get a refund, change or resell my ticket? We do not refund, upgrade or change any festival tickets. You can always make someone else happy and pass on your ticket by selling it with our official ticket partner TicketSwap.

• How do I resell my ticket? STEP 1 go to the order status page of your order. You can reach it by opening the confirmation email of your ordered tickets and clicking the ‘Download tickets’-link. STEP 2 scroll down until you come across the ‘Can’t attend anymore?’ box. Here, you can click" Sell on TicketSwap" and you will be automatically redirected to TicketSwap..

• General: We strongly recommend using public transport to get to Surfana Festival as parking spaces are expensive. Additionally, travelling by public transport is easy and eco-friendly.

• How to arrive via public transport: Take the train to either Haarlem CS or Zandvoort aan Zee and then catch the bus 81 for a short ride to the bus stop called "De Lakens".

• International travel via public transport: To facilitate international travel routes via train to the festival we are collaborating with choo-choo train. Find the easiest route to travel to Surfana Festival throughout international borders.

• How to arrive via Bike: Zeeweg, the national route to the campsite is a beautiful bike ride to the campsite. Grab your own bike or rent a OV bike to & ejoy the ride. You can park your bike at the campsite.

• How to arrive with a scooter: Rent a Felix scooter to have a fun ride to the festival. You can park your scooter at the boulevard right next to the beach.

• How to arrive via car: Get dropped off by friends or Family - 'Kiss & Ride' at the campsite reception or carpool with friends, rent a Bla Bla, take an Uber, car or look into other car sharing options. Read more about car sharing options here.

• Parking at Surfana Festival: There are no dedicated parking spots on the campsite - read more about parking options outside the terrain here.

• Returning home from the festival: Take bus 81 back to your preferred station. Please note that there are no night buses. The last bus towards Haarlem departs on weekdays at 00:00 and at 00:30 on weekends. If you miss the bus, you can take an Uber or taxi. To make things even more convenient, use the OV9292 app.

• Can I charge my Phone? We don’t have any dedicated charging points at the festival grounds, however there are some power points on the campsite for a quick power-nap for your phone. Take note: You need a CEE adapter to use the electricity from the campsite.

• Water points: There are several free water points to fill up your reusable water bottle on the campsite and the fetsival terrain.

• Cash, Card or Coins? We work with a cashless system - all you need is your bank card. We do not accept any cash onsite.

• Disability access: Most parts of the festival site are accesible with a wheelchair. You will find miva toilets on the terrain as well as a little podium for a good view durign the concerts at Lucy's stage.

• Can I walk in the Dunes? It is not allowed to enter the dunes by climbing or passing any of the fences. The dunes are fragile and part of a protected nature reserve, so please stay on the paths and respect this rule. If you want some privacy for a ‘nightly walk’ we can advise the beach!

• Smoking at Surfana Festival: There are designated smoking areas on the festival grounds. Since we are in a national park, please be aware that a single cigarette butt can contaminate 8 liters of groundwater. Dispose of them properly in a bin.

• Lost & Found: Lost and Found during the Festival will be gatehrerd at the Surfcamp Info point. We will post all missing items on Instagram and our facebook group after the festival. If you find your missing item there you can either come pick it up at the Surfana Surfcamp or ask us to mail it to you.

• Reusables: Our food court will exclusively use reusables. Please make sure to return them to our Zero Waste Lounge after enjoying your delicious goodies.

• Can I take picture? Yes, you are allowed to bring your own camera and video camera to take snapshots. However, businesses and websites that wish to take professional photos for commercial use must obtain permission before the festival starts.

• Drug Policy Surfana Festival is mainly about enjoying life in a natural and aware state. If you disagree with this vision, we kindly ask you to seek the party elsewhere.

• Is first aid available? Yes there is first aid available.

• After Hours: A nightly noise curfew will be in place on the campsite after 22:00. Take note: you will be on a family campsite, so please respect your fellow campers and keep noise to a minimum at night. If you still feel like singing and chatting, we advise you to go to the beach.

COLLECTIVELY WE SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT, KINDNESS AND CARE. 

Safety and Support:

Our festival crew is here to support you. If you feel unsafe or need assistance, please reach out to them. Next to the security and EHBO we will have Awareness staff that you can recognise by their White Surfana Crew T-shirts and Bright Vests. You can reach out to them directly or via phone during and after the event.

Respect:

Be cool, respect those around you, and enjoy the good life. 

Consent:

If it's not a clear yes, consider it a no. 

Consent applies to: physical contact, from non-sexual, like touching and hugging, to sexual contact, borrowing camp or personal items, accessing private space in camp and sexual activity. 

• Consent must be
  • Freely given -  this means not forced, coerced, pressured or reliant on a specific condition.
  • Informed - all those involved must know what is going to happen 
  • Reversible - consent can be withdrawn at any time without justification.
  • Specific - someone agreeing to one activity does not mean they consent to anything else.
  • Enthusiastic - you are looking for a massive YES to continue. Anything less should be considered a NO until you get clarification.

Behavior:

Racism, sexism, classicism, misogyny, trans-, homo- or queerphobia, rudeness, harassment, discrimination or anti-social behavior of any kind is never acceptable and our festival is no different. We work on a zero tolerance basis. 

Threats, vandalism, damage, mistreatment, hate speech, intimidation, aggression, discrimination, racism and sexual harassment are not accepted and will result in removal from the festival ground and future banning. The festival and those involved reserve the right to take further action. 

Understanding Cultural Behavior: Respecting Cultures and avoiding appropriation:

It is important to be mindful of cultural behavior and understand the difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation. Cultural appropriation occurs when elements of a culture, especially those of marginalized groups, are taken out of context and used in a way that disrespects, belittles or commodifies that culture. This can include wearing traditional attire as a costume (think Indian Headdress) using sacred symbols as fashion accessories (think Hindu Bindi), or adopting cultural practices without understanding their significance. 

To avoid cultural appropriation, here are some guidelines: 

• Educate yourself: Before adopting elements of a culture, take the time to learn about its history, significance, and the experiences of the people who belong to that culture.
• Respect sacred Symbols: Some cultural symbols have deep spiritual or historical meanings. Use them only if you are sure it is appropriate and with permission
• Ask for permission: If you’re unsure whether something is appropriate, ask someone from that culture. They can offer insight and help you understand the context better.
• Appreciate, don’t imitate: Celebrate the beauty of different cultures by supporting authentic artists and creators. Engage with the culture in a way that honors its origins and the people who sustain it.

Within our programme we rely and reflect cultural practices of different kinds. We aim to include hosts with a cultural background that fits the programme point.

First Aid:

If someone isn't feeling safe or well, take them to the EHBO point. This is also the base of our awareness team and a space for you to turn to if you feel overwhelmed, scared, or find yourself in a conflicted or unwanted situation of any kind. This is a judgment free space.

Sustainability:

We are committed to sustainability. Keep the festival clean and clear out your campsite. Use the trash bins and ashtrays provided; do not litter & bring your reusables instead of plastic wrapping or one way packaging. 

Pets:

Pets are not allowed on the festival site.

Family Friendly:

Surfana is a family-friendly festival. Respect children’s space, avoid smoking near them and do not give alcohol to minors. 

Food and Drinks:

Bringing your own food and drinks is not allowed on the festival site.

Alcohol:

Alcohol will not be served to anyone under 18. Proof of identity may be requested.

Smoking:

Smoking is prohibited in indoor areas and only accepted in dedicated smoking zones. Dispose your cigarette but in a rest bin or pick up an ashtray from our crew. 1 cigarette bud on the floor contaminates 8L of groundwater!

Drugs:

Possession and trade of soft or hard drugs are prohibited. The police will be alerted if necessary. You can voluntarily dispose of your drugs in the designated dispenser at the entrance. 

Prohibited Items:

Cooler boxes and chairs are not allowed on the festival terrain. It is forbidden to bring beverages, food in any packaging, cans, plastic bottles, aerosols, nutritious oxide cartridges, fireworks, weapons, drugs or other dangerous objects to the campsite. These will be confiscated, and you may be handed over to the police. 

Access Rights:

The organization reserves the right to deny access to or remove anyone from the festival site. This will be done with kindness and in a courteous way considering this person's well being. 

Risk:

Entering the festival site is entirely at your own risk. The organization and the festival location are not liable for any injury, material, or immaterial damage to visitors and property. We are also not liable for loss, damage, or theft of property.

Compliance:

For your own, and those around you’s safety, always follow instructions from the organization or security staff to avoid removal from the festival.

Ticket Sales:

Ticket sales close on Friday at 14:00. Day tickets will be available throughout the festival.

Program Changes:

The program is subject to change. Tickets cannot be refunded if one or more acts are canceled. We will try to offer a replacement program.

Photography and Recording:

Photos or recordings may be made for reports, website, promotional purposes, etc. By purchasing a ticket and entering the festival, you give permission for these recordings to be used and acknowledge that they may include you. If you are uncomfortable with this you can always speak to the photographer and ask them to stop and delete the footage including you. 

Leaflets and Sales:

Distributing leaflets, flyers, stickers and selling goods on the festival grounds and immediate vicinity is prohibited unless you have written permission from the festival organization.

Final Decisions:

In situations not covered by these rules, the organization will decide.
